The Wonders

The Wonders is a 2013 Israeli film directed by Avi Nesher. It is a combination of comedy and thriller that pays homage to the film noir genre.

The story revolves around Ariel Navon, also known as Rabbit, who works as a bartender in Jerusalem and spends his nights doing graffiti. He witnesses three religious men bringing a covered figure into an abandoned building opposite his apartment. The next day, he meets private investigator Jacob Ghitis who wants to use Rabbit's apartment to keep an eye on the building. Rabbit is conflicted about whether to allow the investigator to install a hidden camera but eventually agrees. The film was inspired by the real-life case of a popular religious Israeli figure, Rabbi Nir Ben-Artzi, who disappeared from the public for three years.
